More than an internal communication platform, a means of integration for employees, security, and peace of mind with the information at hand.

 

Founded in 1979 and represented in more than 125 countries, Boston Scientific is dedicated to transforming lives through innovative medical solutions in such medical specialties as interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral interventions, neuromodulation, neurovascular intervention, electrophysiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, endoscopy, oncology, urology, and gynecology. In addition, it is dedicated to the design, manufacture, distribution, and sale of medical devices, based on the latest technology.

From 2016 to the present day, I have carried out five projects for Boston Scientific: working hand in hand with the different departments, understanding the needs of their collaborators, and the business objective.

I have learned a lot from their process, generating improvements linked to the production area of medical solutions, information management, and human resources.

THE CHALLENGE

Initially, the process I encountered was strict, inflexible for staff, and demanding (but unrealistic) in terms of the time available to gather information to start work.

Everything has always been related to the responsiveness of support staff and the movement and navigation within the site, directly impacting performance and production.

My initial challenge was to create a medium that would integrate the business, allowing its users real and valuable communication at the right time.

The process and the users, how I started

MY APPROACH

 

Meeting the needs of users and contributing to the business objective are our pillars.

Therefore, before we even prototype an idea, we get to know the people, in search of personalized solutions and optimal interaction according to the context of use in the facility.

THE RESULTS

 

Our specific result: we developed integrated tools for internal communication, mobile apps for iOS and Android, powered by Boston Scientific information systems, as well as a web application, able to generate solutions to queries as efficiently as the teams needed.

Beyond this, we redesigned processes, we generated security: information is in one place, accessible and reliable.

And what did this do to production? Better organized processes and greater efficiency on the part of the employees.
